John-Paul Rochford started playing football from the minute he took his first step. He’s been fortunate to play abroad with Portland Timber U-19 academy, Antigua GFC in the Guatemala 1st division and now with AC Port-Of-Spain in Trinidad and Tobago Premier Football League. His favorite player of all time is Ronaldinho but locally he looked up to his brother (a former national player) and his national teammate Levi Garcia in recent times because of his mindset on and off the field.

What’s your favorite pump-up song before a game? Why?

It’s either Greatness by Masicka or Dreams and Nightmares by Meek Mill. Those songs just brings the energy!

If you could play a match at any stadium or sports venue in the world, where would it be?

The Camp Nou

Who or what inspires you to keep playing and improving?

My family, I believe that they deserve the best and I have an opportunity to grant them that through working hard and being successful with football.

What’s your most memorable fan moment?

I think my most memorable fan moment was running into a total stranger in DCA (Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport). This stranger recognized who I was, and told me my name, my position and some of the accomplishments I’ve achieved throughout my career thus far (my first international cap, my first international goal etc). He proceeded to say that he follows me and a few other players on social media and has faith that Trinidad and Tobago’s future is bright and would surely be a successful one if players like us keep working hard.

How do you balance your personal athletic goals with the goals of the team?

I mean, the ultimate goal of the team is to win the league. I think working hard, performing as best as I can every single game we play to ensure the best chance of attaining the 3 points every game would work in both myself and the team’s favour. I try my best to play better than I did in the game before, make more completed passes, more shots on goal, more goals and to be more involved in the game.
